Modern Suburbia

A design fit for a bustling suburban family who needed to prepare the perfect home cooked meal. It meant a kitchen design that was practical and ergonomic without sacrificing its aesthetics. It started with an island featuring a large cooktop with functional pot & pan drawers and comfortable seating for three. A large tall cabinet housed the stacked wall oven and microwave with large drawer below and built in tray divider above. The fridge was fully integrated instead of having used stainless steel that would have been prone to fingerprints. The sink zone was all about prepping and cleaning. The base area conveniently concealed the dishwasher, waste pullout and other utility items. The shallow base cabinets and open shelves in light oak created the perfect, quick access area to neatly store small appliances, cookbooks, herbs and spices. Opposite to the kitchen was a wall that contained a tall pantry storage. With glass doors on the upper section, the client was able to showcase their cookware and other fine China while still having concealed storage for those other messy items. Graphic ceramic tiles with a geometric pattern on the window wall provided the right balance of practicality, uniqueness and style and nicely tied in the white and light oak colour palette.
