Do you only design kitchens and bathrooms?

How much of the project do you design?

I am usually involved in all aspects of the design process. This includes space planning, interior partition plan, and millwork design. Depending on which package you choose, I can also provide workcopy drawings for various trades including electrical, plumbing, tiling, etc.

Can you design kitchens or bathrooms in condos?

Yes I can! Living in downtown Toronto, it’s almost a guarantee the majority of homeowners will be living in a condominium. With many older condos in need of renovations, I cater to many clients in this demographic.

How long does it take to create a design?

It typically takes two weeks from the time of measuring the space to providing the design concepts. Depending on how quickly the client can make decisions, several meetings are required to refine the concepts until the final design is achieved. I do offer an expedited design services for those on a tight timeline.

What if I need more than 3 revisions?

Although the design process can involve many decisions, it is my job to help you narrow down your choices. Revisions generally mean big design changes that takes the project in a different direction. There are many small changes that occur over the course of the projects but these are general refinements which are normal.

Do you work outside of Toronto?

I do provide design services for clients outside of Toronto (York Region). The travel fee of ($3/km) will apply. For any out of town job that exceeds 100km of Toronto, a separate travel fee will be negotiated with the client.

Why do I need a designer if I have a builder or architect?

When it comes to building a new home or adding an extension on a home, the kitchen and bathrooms are often not the priority. In most cases builders and architects are not experts in that domain, therefore it’s preferable you meet with a designer who specializes in kitchen and bathrooms.

Do you provide a sample package of your work?

Yes I provide an example of both a kitchen and bathroom project from initial conversation through to final pictures. See my Beechwood Project Example.

What type of design software do you use?

Using AutoCAD as my main drafting tool, I use a combination of 2D and 3D as a way to explore space and form. I also use 3D models and add lighting and textures to create photorealistic renderings.

Although I would love to be everything to everyone, there are simply some things that are not my forte. I am not a decorator. This is a completely different type of specialty that often gets confused with interior design. I am able to offer suggestion on key peices of furniture or art and where to source them. I am not a personal shopper or purchasing agent. I would love to be able to spend time with my clients going to various places to shop for their decorations, but again this is not my strength.
